Troubleshooting Guide: How to List Your Handmade Products on Amazon

Apr 09, 2026

You have been accepted to Amazon Handmade but when you go to list a product, you are getting redirected to the regular Amazon listing interface instead of the Handmade one. Here is exactly what happened and how to fix it.

This is one of the most common technical issues new Amazon Handmade sellers run into, and it is frustrating because everything looks like it should work — you were accepted, your account is active, but the listing interface is wrong. The cause is almost always a backend configuration issue where your Handmade approval did not connect properly to your Seller Central account during setup. The fix requires opening a case with Amazon's Handmade department.

Here is the step-by-step process to resolve it.

How to Tell You Have This Problem

When you navigate to Add a Product in Seller Central and try to list a Handmade item, the correct experience is a Handmade-specific listing interface with Handmade categories and fields. If instead you are being redirected to the standard Amazon marketplace listing screen — the one that asks for a product identifier like UPC, EAN, or ISBN — your Handmade approval is not connected correctly to your account. That standard screen is not what Handmade sellers should see when creating a listing.

How to Open a Case With the Handmade Department

Log into Seller Central. Go to Help in the upper right corner and navigate to Contact Us. Look for "Selling on Handmade" as an option — if you do not see it, select "Selling on Amazon" instead. You may be taken directly to a text box to describe your issue, or you may need to navigate through a few additional menu options to reach the contact form.

If you are navigating through sub-menus: select Products and Inventory, then choose the option to contact Seller Support. You may also find a path through Selling on Amazon, Select a Different Issue, then Your Account, then Other Account Issues.

Once you reach the case submission form, copy and paste the following into the case description — replacing the bracketed sections with your information:

Hello Amazon Handmade Department,

I have recently been approved as an Amazon Handmade seller. However, when attempting to list my products, I am redirected to the regular Amazon screen instead of the Handmade interface. This prevents me from accessing the Handmade categories required to list my products correctly.

I understand this is most likely a backend configuration issue. I kindly request your assistance in resolving this so I can proceed with listing my Handmade products on Amazon.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely,
[Your Name]

Submit the case. You should receive a response within a few business days, and in most cases the issue is resolved promptly once Amazon's backend team addresses the configuration.

What to Do While You Wait

While your case is being resolved, use the time productively. Set up your Maker Profile under Settings then Handmade Hub. Update your shipping settings so they are ready before your first listing goes live. Complete your tax information if you have not already. Prepare your product photos and draft your listing content so you can list quickly once access is restored.

Some sellers also receive a response asking for additional information to verify their approval status. If this happens, provide whatever they request — usually your original approval email or details about your product type — and the case typically resolves within another business day or two.

Once Access Is Restored

After Amazon confirms your Handmade access is correctly configured, navigate back to Add a Product in Seller Central. You should now see the Handmade listing interface with Handmade categories available. If you still see the standard marketplace screen, reply to your case and let the support team know it is not yet resolved.

Going forward, the Handmade listing interface is how you will create all of your Handmade listings. If you ever see the standard marketplace screen again when trying to add a Handmade product, the same case process applies.
